Lokad news - Integrated business forecasting

Lokad was somehow lacking an industrial-strengh customer support system. In order to improve our customer assistance services, we have just started a new dedicated application for customer support on support.lokad.com.

you can't optimize what you can't measure 

For our customers, this dedicated application means the possibility to track the status of their support tickets. For the Lokad staff, it makes possible to actually measure on a regular basis how well we are doing with with customer support.

We have currently an hosting issue with forums.lokad.com and community.lokad.com. We are currently working on a solution for the problem. We apologize for the service disruption. The forecasting services are not affected by this issue.

We have completed the Lokad Web Services migration (see also part #1 and #2) by updating www.lokad.com. The deprecated URL www.lokad.com/ws/TimeSeries.asmx is now redirecting toward ws.lokad.com/TimeSeries.asmx. As indicated in the previous posts, if you haven't already updated the URL used by your Lokad add-on, you need to update the WS URL in the add-on settings with the new URL.

Update on the part 1/3 of the Lokad Web Services migration.

We have re-released the sales forecasting add-ons

• Lokad Desktop Sales Forecasting v1.1.0

• Lokad osCommerce Sales Forecasting v2.0.2
• Lokad OpenShell Time Series Forecasting v1.0.1
  

 The purpose of those releases was to match the new URLs for the Lokad Web Services (i.e. ws.lokad.com).

We have started the migration of the Lokad Web Services.

The new WS URL is http://ws.lokad.com/TimeSeries.asmx
(The old URL was http://www.lokad.com/ws/TimeSeries.asmx)

The motivations behind this migration are very similar to app.lokad.com migration that we have previously discussed in this blog.

The old URL will continue to be functional until we have re-released all our packages with the updated default settings. You can already update the WS URLs in use in all your Lokad add-ons. We apologize for the inconvenience. The new WS URL should be much more "stable" for the time being. 

Ps: The Lokad Sandbox is being updated in the similar manner.

We have been relying on the Sourceforge web forums so far, but we have finally decided to setup our own web forums on forums.lokad.com

Pros

• better forum software: SF.Net forums have quite a Web 1.0 look & feel.
• ad-free forums: if we ever allow ads in our forums, we would prefer to make sure they are 100% relevant.
• shorter & significant URL: the previous forum location was just impossible to remember.

Cons

• Yet another application to host and maintain.

The Pros were vastly exceeding the Cons. Enjoy forums.lokad.com.

 

As you may have already noticed, we have migrated the Lokad Web Application to a new location: app.lokad.com

This migration is serving several purposes

• reducing the Web Application downtime: we will now be able update www.lokad.com and app.lokad.com separately.
• facilitating further evolutions of www.lokad.com because the complexity of the web application is removed.
• improving performance (our objective is to make www.lokad.com completely independent from our database server).

Following the same lines, we have already planned to isolate the Lokad Web Services in a separate subdomain.

Due to technical issues with our hosting provider, Lokad.com is currently down. We hope to be able to fix the problem within a few hours. We apologize the service disruption.
